NYC marriage proposal featuring the beautiful couple in
Long Island City, New York.
Yes, Matt and his crew of fantastic friends may have frozen their fingers off while setting up his surprise proposal to Payton, but man was it worth it.
Matt and Payton been together for five years, and he knew he wanted to make his proposal to her extra special.
“My original plan was to have our families come out to NYC for the proposal,” Matt said while describing the itinerary to me. “But, Covid shut that down.”
Now, of course I wish their families could have been there for the special moment. What an incredible experience for a couple and their witnesses. However, I have to say–– I think it was just LOVELY. It was gorgeous, intimate, and so specific to them.
Matt had done such a fantastic job. Secretly, he had already been hard at work for months; He made a whole sentence of giant letters–complete with lights–to spell out his warm request:
Fun story: Matt and Payton have a tradition––They have stolen every “Reserved” sign from every table from every one of their dates. So, naturally Matt had a stunning theme to run with. He lined the Payton’s path from the elevator with all of those signs–
I do not say this lightly: She had no idea it was coming.
As I understand it, she was coming up to the roof with her best friend to “take pics” at sunset before they had dinner––
Surprise New York City proposal!
It was thrilling, electrifying, and so so sweet. Their love shined so brightly, it was making my eyes well up. Which is not so cute when you need to be able to see through the viewfinder and take the shot.
It was simply an honor to photograph the radiant couple. My client and dear friend Becca, pictured here feeling so relieved that the secret was finally done––
–She had recommended me to Matt, and I am so glad she did that. I just love love, and want to be there to celebrate it…
…now forgive me while I go curl up on the couch with some wine and find a good Julia Roberts movie on Netflix.
If you or someone you know is looking for an engagement or proposal photographer, let me know. My camera and I would love to be there and help capture some precious memories.
Looking forward to it with much love.
Have a lovely day!
Josh
